Dunedin Physical Therapy Services
At Raveling Chiropractic Center, P.A., we provide a comprehensive variety of Dunedin physical therapy and massage therapy services to aid in recovery and rehabilitation from an injury accident or workers compensation case. Our chiropractor, Dr. Paul Raveling, uses
his chiropractic skills in combination with these techniques to help patients recover more quickly from accidents, improve mobility and achieve optimum wellness.
When a new patient first comes to our office with some type of pain from a Dunedin injury accident or work-related accident, Dr. Raveling first performs a thorough examination to determine if there are any underlying causes. He may also use spinal and postural screenings to reveal important health information. He then recommends a course of treatment that may combine a number of therapies to provide relief care, rehabilitation and corrective care, and wellness care.
Physical Therapy and Pain-Relieving Rehabilitation Services
At Raveling Chiropractic Center, P.A., we don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach to rehabilitation and wellness. Depending on the extent of pain or injuries suffered in a workers compensation case or other injury, Dr. Raveling may recommend adding various physiotherapy services to his core treatment of the Gonstead Technique and other chiropractic adjustments. Physical therapy is a program of movement and stretching exercises that are gradually increased in range and difficulty to restore mobility to an affected area. It may also include therapeutic massage, which is the kneading and rubbing of muscles and tendons to improve flexibility. A specialized form of this, Swedish massage therapy, involves the use of long flowing strokes during massage to reduce joint stiffness and improve circulation.
Some rehabilitative therapies combine the hands-on healing techniques with other elements, such as heat and cold, ultrasound, laser beams, or electrical impulses. In ultrasound therapy, we use sound waves which can be directed at specific areas of the body to stimulate healing. Interferential Electrical Muscle Stimulation involves electrical pulses that are delivered at
medium frequencies. These penetrate deeper into body tissue than surface treatments and promote healing from the inside. In cold laser light therapy treatment, low levels of laser beams are precisely aimed at targeted areas to reduce pain, swelling and inflammation. This technique also helps to strengthen tissues that may have been damaged in an accident.
Other therapeutic applications might invoke the use of heat and cold in differing combinations. Cryotherapy involves using lower temperatures to remove heat from a certain body part, while diathermy uses electrically-induced heat to relax muscles. Sometimes we add moisture to the heat source as an aid to reducing swelling and alleviating pain.
The healthcare team at Raveling Chiropractic Center, P.A., provides a variety of restorative physiotherapy services for patients from Dunedin, Palm Harbor, Clearwater, Tampa and the surrounding communities. These therapies work in combination with Dr. Raveling's chiropractic techniques to reduce pain and stimulate healing. They may also be added to a course of wellness care for patients who want to maximize mobility and functioning for sports, or maintain inner strength as they age.
