We are so pleased to offer Dundedin massage therapy services to our Dunedin, Palm Harbor, Clearwater, and Tampa area patients! In addition to our wide range of chiropractic services, we offer both Trigger Point and Deep Tissue massage for our patients. Therapeutic massage is sometimes recommended by our chiropractor, Dr. Paul Raveling, as a part of a chiropractic care program to help you get maximum relief and long-term results. Christina is our licensed massage therapist (and Licensed Practical Nurse) with 12 years of experience.
There are quite a few benefits that massage therapy can offer you. Our Dunedin chiropractor treats patients for a number of different conditions, including auto accident injuries, back pain, neck pain, chronic pain conditions, sports injuries, and other injury types. Dr. Raveling will evaluate your injury and your state of overall health upon arrival here at our Dunedin offices. Once we know the source of your pain or discomfort, we can customize the treatment plan to meet your needs. This may include massage as well as other types of physical therapy and rehabilitation.
Your treatment course will often include spinal manipulation with the aim of correcting any imbalance within the spinal column. Dr. Raveling has been providing gentle and noninvasive care of all types since 1983. In addition to spinal manipulation and spinal correction, Dr. Raveling may also recommend deep tissue massage as part of your recovery. Deep tissue massage focuses on relief of muscle tension. This type of massage is especially successful at reaching chronic pain, and it targets the deep layers of soft tissues in the body.
Trigger point massage is another helpful form of rehabilitation. This type of massage focuses on loosening and relaxing certain trigger points within the body. For example, a certain trigger point in your back could possibly be causing referred pain in your shoulder. This massage and other types of massage can be an effective component of your physical therapy program.
Massage therapy can be especially beneficial for our patients who are dealing with injury. Massage can help to reduce the inflammation that commonly happens with many injuries. While some medical doctors may treat inflammation with nothing more than prescription medicines that are only temporary, massage therapy can actually reduce inflammation and pain.
Additionally, massage therapy is helpful for those patients who have lost some of their range of motion due to an injury or an accident. Massage is well known as a method for gently guiding the muscles and soft tissue into "remembering" what they were once capable of prior to the accident or injury. With chiropractic care and massage combined, injuries like back pain can often be resolved in a pain free way, without any medication or surgical intervention.
Massage is also an excellent way to reduce stress. Some of our patients choose therapeutic massage for its relaxing qualities, even when they are not dealing with injury. A massage is one of the most effective ways to relax both your mind and your muscles. If you are dealing with overall stress and worry, a massage will help to alleviate that, and it may very well assist with improved sleep patterns as well.
